Preparing The Visit
I was driving to the Memorial Inauguration on April 8th 2021 when I received a call from an unknown number:
"Hi this is Jackie Stewart.
Am I talking to Wolfgang?"
Unbelievable! A three-times World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart himself picks up the phone to call an unknown person writing him an email. What followed was the privilege and pure pleasure to prepare his exclusive visit to Fribourg in the fall with him personally and the great support of his staff in Switzerland and UK.
This tells us a lot about Sir Jackie Stewart! It tells as about his kindness and generosity and most notably his awareness of his origin and the memory of those who haven't survived. He himself was a fan chasing Juan-Manuel Fangio for an autograph. He lives and acts with this awareness and treats all persons, whether unknown or famous, equally.
I am still very touched and humbled by his pure kindness. It was a great honour - Thank you Sir Jackie!
